Redundant after 20 years of service, draughtsman David Pearce, fed up with the world, recklessly spends his redundancy money on a Spanish holiday of a lifetime with his wife Amy. She is hopeful of a romantic second honeymoon, but when David meets the starry-eyed, flirtatious Linda Cochran, who is on holiday with her stiff-upper-lip husband Robert, Amy soon suspects her easily-lead husband is on the brink of having a holiday romance.
But unlike Duty Free, can adultery really go on without paying a price? It’s far from a sun-drenched holiday as Amy attempts to save her marriage and keep Linda at bay.
Regularly attracting 15 million viewers in the UK, the high-farce comedy DUTY FREE was a huge hit with audiences and critics, spawning three successful series and a Christmas Special. With each episode representing a day in their holiday, join Keith Barron and Gwen Taylor for comic chaos on the Spanish Costa in an “all inclusive” four disc package deal of the complete series.
INNER:
WEEK 1
Day 1: Viva Espana
When Amy agrees to spend David’s redundancy money on a package holiday, she doesn’t allow for the effects that travel, the exotic Mediterranean and a beautiful woman will have on her husband.
Day 2: El Macho
The two couples decide to take a trip to the bull fight to see ‘El Macho’. David is fascinated by the skill, artistry and pageantry yet unfortunately the fight doesn’t live up to his expectations (or his stomach), and Amy decides to step into the ring on her own account.
Day 3: Praying Mantis
David is carried away by the throb of the guitars, the sound of the cicadas, the scent of the bougainvillea, and Linda... particularly Linda! Amy senses a storm brewing over the normally placid Mediterranean.
Day 4: Spanish Lace
The two couples decide to take a trip up into the mountains. Amy has cashed the last of the Traveller’s Cheques, but David insists on buying presents with what remains of the spending money. Unfortunately he buys one present too many.
Day 5: Bedroom Farce
Amy’s suspicions are aroused by David and Linda’s midnight swim. Robert also suspects that a holiday romance is in the
air, but when the lovers devise a set of secret signs to aid their secret meetings, misunderstandings lead to mixed signals.
Day 6: Forty Love
Amy finally sees the evidence of David and Linda’s affair. Robert attempts to warn David off, but it is Amy who decides to act on her own, with disastrous results for all parties involved.
Day 7: Hasta La Vista
Linda and David have decided to leave together. Meanwhile Robert has taken to the bottle, but Amy decides to use all her feminine guile to hang on to her man. A bit of help from the hotel management and the police couldn’t hurt either.
WEEK 2
DAY 1: Manana
David has been disowned by the other three and endeavours to smuggle himself past the police and out of the hotel dressed as a woman, with disastrous results.
DAY 2: Casino
David feels lucky, and despite their spending money running low, decides to visit the Casino. Concentration, coolness and a strong nerve are called for as he pursues a sequence of winning numbers, but will he risk everything on the flip of a coin?
DAY 3: Couples
A young couple arrive from England on their honeymoon. Romance is in the air, but unfortunately the dewy-eyed lovers manage to mix and match the wrong couples.
DAY 4: El Astro
There is great excitement as the famous TV star, Frazer Hines, comes to stay at the hotel. Linda is starry-eyed, David and Robert become over suspicious and Amy couldn’t care less... until Frazer displays his interest.
DAY 5: Pepe
A day trip from Spain to Tangier by boat starts a mysterious chain of events. Having agreed to carry a parcel back into Spain, Amy fears she may be carrying illegal substances and getting rid of the evidence proves difficult.
DAY 6: Snap
David finds to his horror that it is a small world when he meets Kev in the hotel. He has been dogged by Kev all his life, from school, in the army and even in the office, and it was Kev that was responsible for David’s redundancy. Will David let this greasy toad get away with it all?
DAY 7: Adios
All good things come to an end and this is the last day of the holiday. Packing bottles of liquor, a last look round, and a visit to Pedro’s, the local bar, all have to be done. Unfortunately David and Linda’s lingering farewells are rudely interrupted.
BONUS BREAK:
DAY 1: Winter Break
Amy has found herself a job, but poor David is still unemployed and depressed. Perhaps a break to get away from it all is the answer, but why would David want to spend the holiday with a long-lost friend?
DAY 2: Deja Vu
Amy has surprised David by joining him on his week's holiday in Spain. With her suspicions already raised she soon starts to feel she has experienced the same situation before when catching sight of a mysterious woman.
DAY 3: Close Up
T.V cameras have arrived at the San Remo with Judith Chalmers and the crew from the "Wish You Were Here" programme filming a holiday report. The Pearces and the Cochrans are determined to get on the screen, but will the cameras affect David’s performance?
DAY 4: The Go-Between
Weird holiday maker, Neville Thwaite, becomes inextricably involved with David and Linda when the love-struck couple use him as a go-between. Although keen to help, poor Neville manages to get everything wrong, including an encounter with a chimpanzee.

In spite of her initial protests, David manages to persuade Amy to spend a Christmas holiday in Spain. By an extraordinary stroke of coincidence Linda and Robert have also booked in the same hotel, allowing David to continue his amorous pursuit of Linda.
