Perth Festival 2023 – Madman Favourites
Perth Festival has returned for 2023 with the exciting announcement of their full program for this year’s festival. Highlights from the festival include award winning masterpieces from Cannes, Berlin and Sundance.
Here are some of our top picks from this year’s program.

COPA 71 (20 – 26 Nov)

With the country still basking in the excitement of the Matildas’ world cup performance, it’s time for another emotional soccer ride.
COPA 71 the story of the 1971 Women’s World Cup, which saw soccer teams from all over the world gather in Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium to compete in front of more than 100,000 spectators. It was the last women’s World Cup until the official FIFA event 20 years later. Dismissed by the male-dominated football associations around the world, the event was written out of history — until now.

Based on the popular graphic novel by North American writer Sara Varon, Robot Dreams is the first animation film by award-winning director Spanish Pablo Berger.
Dog lives in Manhattan and he’s tired of being alone. One day he decides to build himself a robot, a companion. Their friendship blossoms, until they become inseparable, to the rhythm of 80’s NYC. One summer night, Dog, with great sadness, is forced to abandon Robot at the beach. Will they ever meet again?
